When you can have a full refund
You can have a full refund of the price you paid for a course if all three of these apply:
- you ask within 14 days of the date of purchase;
- you have completed less than 20% of the course; and
- no certificate has been issued for that course.
If you have not opened the course at all, you qualify as long as you ask within the 14 days. The same rules apply to each course separately, so a refund for one course does not depend on what you have done in another.
Why there are limits: courses are digital content
A course is digital content. You can open it as soon as your payment is confirmed, and once it has been studied it cannot be returned. The 14-day window and the 20% limit give you time to check that you have bought the right course, while stopping a course from being completed, or a certificate obtained, and then refunded.
If you are not sure a course suits your situation, read its course page first, including the list of topics, the learning hours and the laws and standards it covers, or email us before you buy.
How we work out how much you have completed
Much of your progress inside a course is saved in your own browser rather than on our servers. To decide whether you have completed less than 20%, we look at the records available to us, for example whether lessons are recorded as completed, whether the final assessment has been passed and whether a certificate has been issued or downloaded. We may also ask you how far you got.
We apply this fairly. Passing the final assessment, or downloading the certificate, always means the course is complete.
When a refund is not available
Apart from the cases in the next section, we do not refund a course once:
- more than 14 days have passed since you bought it;
- you have completed 20% or more of it; or
- a certificate has been issued for it.
A refund is also not available because a licensing authority, committee, employer or insurer did not accept the course, or because a complaint, investigation or renewal did not turn out as you hoped. Our courses are independent education, are not accredited by any UAE health authority and do not award CME or CPD credits, so please check whether a course will meet a particular requirement before you buy it. Not passing the final assessment is not a reason for a refund either, because you can retake it.
If something is wrong on our side
Whatever the time or progress limits above, contact us if:
- a course has a technical fault that we cannot fix within a reasonable time;
- a course contains a significant error or is materially different from its description;
- you were charged twice, or bought the same course twice by mistake.
We will fix the problem, move you to a suitable alternative course or refund you, and we will agree the right remedy with you.
Bought the wrong course?
If you are within the 14 days, have completed less than 20% and no certificate has been issued, you can ask us to switch you to a different course instead of a refund. If the new course costs more, you pay the difference; if it costs less, we refund the difference.
How to ask for a refund
- Email support@healthcarepractise.com with "Refund request" in the subject line, or use our contact page.
- Include your name, the email address on your account, the order number and the course concerned. A reason is helpful but not required.
- We confirm by email whether the refund is approved. A request sent within the 14 days counts as on time even if we reply after the window has closed.
- Approved refunds are paid back to the payment method you used, in UAE dirhams. Your bank or card issuer may take several working days to show the credit.
What happens after a refund
When a refund is made, the course is removed from your account and you can no longer open it. Any progress or notes saved in your browser for that course can no longer be used. If you later want the course again, you can buy it at the price shown at that time.
Card disputes
Please contact us before you dispute a payment with your bank, because we can usually resolve the issue faster. If a payment is reversed through a card dispute, access to the course is suspended while the dispute is open.
Your legal rights
This policy is in addition to your rights under UAE consumer protection law and does not limit any right that cannot be excluded by law. It forms part of our terms and conditions, which are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai.
