1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Healthcare Practise ("we", "us", "our") provides the online courses offered on ae.healthcarepractise.com (the "website") and runs the website. Healthcare Practise is also our legal name.
These terms and conditions ("terms") are the agreement between you and us whenever you browse the website, create an account, buy a course, study a course, take an assessment or download a certificate. Three other documents form part of them:
- our privacy policy, which explains how we handle personal data;
- our refund policy, which explains when you can have your money back;
- our disclaimer, which explains what our courses are not.
If those documents and these terms ever conflict, these terms apply, except that the privacy policy decides how personal data is handled. The website and the courses are in English. If these terms are translated, the English version prevails to the extent the law allows.
By creating an account or placing an order you confirm that you have read and accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the website or buy a course.
2. What our courses are, and what they are not
Our courses are self-paced online courses on ethics, professionalism, law, patient safety and remediation, written for healthcare professionals who practise in the United Arab Emirates. They are general education. In particular:
- Healthcare Practise is an independent education provider. None of the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP), the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DOH), the Sharjah Health Authority (SHA), the Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA/DHCR) or Emirates Health Services (EHS) has accredited, approved or endorsed our courses, and we are not affiliated with any of them.
- Our courses do not award CME or CPD points or credits. The certificate states approximate learning hours. Whether that learning can count towards your licence renewal is decided only by your licensing authority.
- A course does not replace training, supervision or assessment that a committee, licensing authority or employer has required of you, unless that body itself accepts it.
- Nothing in a course is legal, medical or professional advice about your own situation, and no course can secure any particular result in a complaint, investigation, licence application or renewal.
Please check with your licensing authority, employer or adviser before you buy if you need a course to satisfy a specific requirement. The disclaimer sets this out in full.
3. Your account
You need an account to study. To open one you must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
- Give accurate details. Use your real first and last name as you want them to appear on your certificate, and an email address you control.
- One person, one account. An account and the courses in it are for the named learner only. Do not share your login, and do not let anyone else study or sit an assessment in your name.
- Keep your password safe. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us straight away at support@healthcarepractise.com if you think someone else has used it.
- Guest checkout. If you pay before creating an account, the course is added to your account when you register or log in with the same email address you used at checkout.
You can update your name and email address from your account. Correct your name before you download a certificate, because the certificate uses the name on your account at that moment.
4. Ordering and paying
Prices are shown on each course page and at checkout in UAE dirhams (AED). Any tax that applies is shown at checkout before you pay. Each course is a one-off purchase: there is no subscription and nothing renews automatically.
- You add a course to your basket and complete checkout.
- Your payment is taken by our third-party payment provider. We do not see or store your full card number.
- When the payment is confirmed, we email you an order confirmation and the course appears under My Courses. The contract between us is formed at that point.
If a price on the website is obviously wrong because of a typing or technical error, we may cancel the order and refund what you paid in full, and we will tell you before we do so. Charges made by your own bank or card issuer, such as foreign currency conversion fees, are outside our control and are not refundable by us.
Employers or other organisations paying for several learners should contact us first, so that each learner receives a course in their own account.
5. Access to your courses
A course you have bought stays in your account. We do not set a time limit on access; if we ever have to withdraw a course, section 11 explains what happens.
Courses run in a current web browser on a computer, tablet or phone with an internet connection. JavaScript and browser storage must be switched on. Your place in a course, and any reflection notes you type in the course player, are saved in the browser on the device you use, not on our servers. If you clear your browser data, use a private window or change device, you may lose your place and your notes, and we cannot recover them. Save your course pack when you finish a course; the how it works page explains what it contains.
Lessons open in order and each has a minimum reading time. This is deliberate: it means a certificate reflects study, not just a test score. Trying to get round these controls is a breach of section 7.
6. Assessments and certificates
Each course ends with a final assessment. The pass mark is stated in the course; in most courses it is 80% across 20 scenario questions. If you do not pass, you can retake the assessment after a short wait. The questions are marked automatically against fixed answers; if you think a question has been marked wrongly, tell us and a person will review it.
When you have completed the course and passed the assessment, you can download a certificate. It states your name, the course title, the approximate learning hours, the completion date, your final score, a unique certificate number and a QR code. Each course certificate can be downloaded once. If you lose it or your name was wrong, contact us for a replacement.
Anyone who has your certificate number can check it on our verification page, which shows your name, the course, the learning hours, the completion date and your score. That is how employers and others confirm the certificate is genuine, so please share the number only with people you want to see those details.
You must describe a certificate accurately: as independent, self-directed learning of the stated number of hours. You must not alter it, present it as CME or CPD credit, or suggest that it was issued or accepted by a UAE health authority. We may cancel a certificate, and mark it as invalid on the verification page, if it was obtained in breach of these terms, for example by someone else studying or sitting the assessment for you.
7. Fair and lawful use
You agree not to:
- share your login, or let anyone else use your account or study in your name;
- copy, download, record, screen-capture, scrape, sell, publish or redistribute course content, assessment questions or answers, except the course pack and certificate we provide for your own portfolio;
- use automated tools, scripts or other people to answer assessment questions, or try to bypass the lesson order, reading times or access controls;
- use our content to build, train or run another course, product or service;
- upload anything harmful, such as malicious code, or interfere with the security or running of the website;
- send us content that is unlawful, abusive or defamatory, or that discloses another person's personal data without a lawful basis.
No patient information, please. We do not need details of patients, colleagues or a particular case. Keep your messages, feedback and reflections free of names, file numbers and other details that could identify anyone.
8. Our content and your licence to use it
The courses, lessons, case scenarios, questions, explanations, graphics, certificate design, our name and logo, and the text of this website belong to Healthcare Practise or to people who have licensed them to us. They are protected by intellectual property law.
When you buy a course we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use it for your own professional learning. You may keep your course pack and certificate and share them with your licensing authority, employer, medical liability insurer, lawyer or appraiser. You may not use the content for any other purpose without our written permission.
Laws, resolutions, standards and codes quoted in our courses remain the work of the authorities that issued them. We quote them for teaching and name the source so that you can read the official version.
9. What you write and send us
Reflection notes typed in the course player stay in your browser and are not sent to us. The course pack you save at the end of a course is generated on your device.
If you send us a message, feedback or a suggestion, you keep ownership of it. You allow us to use it to reply to you, to deal with any request it contains and to improve our courses. We will not publish anything that identifies you without your permission.
10. Cancellations and refunds
Courses are digital content that you can open as soon as payment is confirmed. You can have a full refund if you ask within 14 days of purchase, you have completed less than 20% of the course and no certificate has been issued for it. A course that is faulty or not as described is refunded or replaced whatever the time or progress. The refund policy gives the details and explains how to ask.
11. Changes to courses, the website and these terms
Courses. Laws and authority standards change, so we review and update our courses. An update may change the content, structure or length of a course. If you have bought a course, you keep access to the updated version.
Prices. We may change prices at any time. A change never affects a price you have already paid.
Withdrawal. If we have to withdraw a course you have bought but not completed, we will give you reasonable notice and offer you either a comparable course or a refund.
The website. We aim to keep the website available at all times, but it may be unavailable during maintenance or because of events outside our reasonable control, such as a failure of a hosting, network or payment service.
These terms. We may update these terms. The new version is published on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Changes do not affect an order already placed, unless the law requires them to.
12. Our responsibility to you
We take reasonable care to make our courses accurate and up to date at the date each was last reviewed, and to provide them with reasonable skill and care. If we fail to do so, contact us and we will put it right; the refund policy explains your options.
To the extent the law allows:
- we are not responsible for decisions made by any licensing authority, medical liability committee, disciplinary body, court, insurer or employer, or for how they treat a course or certificate;
- we are not responsible for loss caused by relying on a course as advice about your own case, or by events outside our reasonable control;
- we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of income, opportunity, licence or reputation;
- our total liability to you in connection with a course is limited to the price you paid for that course.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot be limited or excluded under the laws of the United Arab Emirates, or any right you have under UAE consumer protection law.
13. Suspending or closing an account
We may suspend or close an account, or withhold or cancel a certificate, if we reasonably believe the account has been used in serious or repeated breach of these terms, for example by account sharing, assessment fraud, copying course content or a payment that has been reversed without good reason. Where the law allows, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond first.
You can close your account at any time by emailing support@healthcarepractise.com. Closing an account ends access to your courses. Some records, such as order records and certificate records, are kept for the periods set out in our privacy policy.
14. Privacy and confidentiality
We handle your personal data as described in our privacy policy, in line with Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data. We treat the fact that you have enrolled, the courses you have bought and your results as confidential. We do not report enrolments or results to employers, licensing authorities or anyone else, except where you ask us to, where someone checks a certificate number you have shared, or where the law obliges us.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them, your use of the website or any course (including non-contractual disputes or claims), are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates as applied in the Emirate of Dubai.
The courts of the Emirate of Dubai have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any such dispute or claim.
Before starting any formal step, please contact us at support@healthcarepractise.com with the details of your concern. Most problems can be resolved quickly by email, and we will do our best to do so. This does not affect any right you have to use a consumer complaint channel available under UAE law.
16. General
- Whole agreement. These terms and the documents named in section 1 are the whole agreement between you and us about the website and our courses.
- Severability. If a court decides that part of these terms is invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in force.
- No waiver. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later.
- Transfer. We may transfer our rights and duties under these terms to another organisation that takes over the website or the courses, and your rights will not be reduced as a result. You may not transfer your account or your courses to someone else.
- Notices. We will contact you by email at the address on your account. You can contact us at support@healthcarepractise.com.
17. Contacting us
For questions about these terms, an order or your account, email support@healthcarepractise.com or use our contact page. Please include the email address on your account and, for an order, the order number.
