Written for UAE practice, not adapted from elsewhere

Healthcare professionals in the UAE are licensed by a federal ministry or by an emirate health authority, and the rules they work under come from both levels. Our courses are written from those sources, not from another country's codes with the names changed.

  • Federal law: Federal Law No. 5 of 2019 on the practice of human medicine, Federal Law No. 6 of 2023 for nurses, midwives and allied health professions, and Federal Decree-Law No. 4 of 2016 on Medical Liability.
  • Patient rights: the Patient's Rights and Responsibilities Charter (Ministerial Resolution No. 14 of 2021) and the Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021).
  • Authority standards: for example the Dubai Health Authority's Standards for Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct, in force since 3 September 2025, with its 12 standards on consent, confidentiality, integrity, scope of practice, communication and insurance integrity.

Where the authorities differ, for example on CPD cycles or on how long a break in practice can be before retraining is needed, the course explains the difference and tells you to follow your own licensing authority.

How our learning hours relate to CPD in the UAE

Each licensing authority sets its own continuing professional development rules. The Dubai Health Authority, for example, sets an annual target for every profession and will not renew a licence until it is met, and the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi requires at least half of each licensing cycle's credits to come from formal (Category 1) activities.

Plainly: our courses are not accredited by any UAE health authority and do not award CME/CPD points or credits. The certificate records approximately how many hours of structured, assessed learning you completed. Whether that learning can be counted towards your licence renewal is decided by your licensing authority, so check its current rules before you rely on it.

You can use our courses as self-directed learning for your portfolio, to prepare for a change in role, or to refresh your knowledge of a specific duty such as consent or record keeping. The CPD requirements guide compares the rules of each authority.

When a complaint or investigation is open

A complaint can lead to a medical liability committee review, an investigation by your licensing authority, or both. In Dubai, for example, Executive Council Resolution No. 49 of 2024 allows the DHA to require a professional to attend specific training courses within a set time, to work under supervision for up to one year, and to be reassessed.

Training of that kind is decided case by case, and no UAE authority publishes a list of approved external remediation courses. Our courses are built to help you understand the standard that was in question, reflect on what happened and show what you have changed. They do not replace training a committee or authority has ordered, unless that authority accepts them, and they are not legal advice: speak to your medical liability insurer or a lawyer about your case.

Start with the remediation page for your authority, which matches common concerns to the courses that address them.

Questions UAE professionals ask

Are your courses accredited by DHA, DOH or MOHAP?

No. Healthcare Practise is an independent education provider. Our courses are not accredited by, or affiliated with, MOHAP, DHA, DOH, SHA, DHCR or Emirates Health Services, and no CME/CPD points or credits are awarded by any of them. We say this on every course page and on every certificate.

Will a certificate count towards my licence renewal?

That is decided by your licensing authority, not by us. The authorities link renewal credit to accredited or recognised activities; the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, for example, requires at least 50% of each cycle's credits from formal activities. Check your authority's current CPD rules before relying on a certificate for renewal.

I have received a complaint. Which course should I start with?

If the concern is broad or you have been asked to show insight, the 4-hour core course for professionals facing a complaint or investigation covers ethics, professionalism, reflection and remediation together. If the concern is specific, such as consent, records or boundaries, choose the matching topic course. The remediation page for your authority lists common concerns and the courses that address them.

What does the certificate show?

Your name, the course title, approximately how many learning hours the course represents, the completion date, your final assessment score, a unique certificate number with a QR code for online verification, and our independence statement.

Do you tell my employer or licensing authority that I enrolled?

No. We do not report enrolments or results to employers or licensing authorities. You decide whether to share your certificate, and anyone you share it with can confirm that it is genuine by entering its number on our verification page.

How much does a course cost?

Courses are priced by length: AED 349 for a 2-hour course, AED 449 for a 3-hour course and AED 549 for the 4-hour core course. You pay once per course in UAE dirhams; there is no subscription.

What language are the courses in, and can I study on my phone?

All courses are in English and use UAE terminology, laws and case settings. They run in a web browser on a phone, tablet or computer, so you can study at your own pace.
