About this course

This course covers professionalism as it is defined and enforced across the whole UAE health workforce: the federal laws that set duties for every practitioner and for each profession group, the DHA Standards for Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and the conduct instruments of MOHAP, DOH, SHA and Dubai Healthcare City, honesty in licensing, renewal, CPD and good standing, presence and respect at the point of care, non-discrimination and civility in multinational teams, scope, delegation and reliable handover, candour and incident reporting, social media, clinical systems and telehealth, commercial pressure and conflicts of interest, health and conduct outside work, and how conduct concerns are handled and remedied.

It is written for every licensed healthcare professional in the UAE, whatever their profession: nurses and midwives, physicians and dentists, pharmacists, allied health professionals such as physiotherapists, radiographers, sonographers, laboratory scientists, dietitians, psychologists, occupational and speech therapists and paramedics, and TCIM practitioners, in government and private facilities licensed by MOHAP, DHA, DOH, SHA or in Dubai Healthcare City. It suits professionals new to the UAE, team leaders and educators, and anyone reflecting on their conduct after feedback, a complaint or a concern.

Professionalism carries particular weight in the UAE because patients are cared for by teams drawn from many countries, licences are held with several authorities whose rules differ, and a professional record travels across emirates through primary source verification and good standing certificates. Recent instruments, including Federal Law No. 6 of 2023 and its 2025 Executive Regulations, Dubai Executive Council Resolution No. 49 of 2024, the DHA code effective September 2025, the third version of the PQR and Sharjah Resolution No. 29 of 2025, make this a timely moment to check everyday behaviour against current standards.

Questions about this course

Who should take the healthcare professionalism course rather than the doctors' version?

Nurses, midwives, dentists, pharmacists, allied health professionals, paramedics and TCIM practitioners, and any physician who wants a shorter cross-profession overview. The Medical Professionalism Course for UAE Physicians is a longer, 3-hour course built around a doctor's career, privileges and supervision duties.

Does the course compare renewal and CPD rules across UAE authorities?

Module 2 compares renewal, CPD and gap-in-practice requirements across MOHAP, DHA, DOH and DHCR for your profession, and explains how to make accurate declarations in licensing, renewal and good standing processes. It also shows how to keep an honest CPD record that would stand up if your authority audited it.

What does digital professionalism cover in this course?

Module 5 applies DHA, DOH and federal rules to social media, self-promotion, clinical systems, messaging apps and telehealth. It covers keeping personal and professional accounts apart, never sharing identifiable patient information, and recognising when an online reply turns into individual clinical advice.

Does it address health, fatigue and conduct outside work?

Module 6 covers integrity under pressure, including conflicts of interest and commercial pressure, and helps you recognise when health problems, fatigue or conduct outside work could affect your fitness to practise. It explains when to seek support or step back, and why early, honest disclosure is usually treated better than concealment.

Will completing the professionalism course improve my good standing?

No. Good standing reflects your official licensing and disciplinary record, which no course changes. The course is independent, is not accredited by any UAE health authority and carries no CME or CPD credit; what it offers is structured learning, a certificate stating approximately 2 learning hours and a reflective account for your portfolio.
